Populations and Services
The First Generation Plus Success Center (FG+SC) serves as a resource hub for first-generation, transfer, undocumented, and former foster youth students at USC. Through programs, mentorship, and campus partnerships, we support students’ academic success, well-being, and sense of belonging. First Generation
At USC, we define first generation students as those whose parents do not have four-year degrees. At USC, about 23% of first-year undergraduates are first-generation students. Explore resources like the First Gen Student Assembly, Norman Topping, and Korshak.
Transfer Students
Whether arriving from a community college, another four-year institution, or returning to school after time away, transfer students enrich the academic and social life at USC.
Undocumented Students
FG+SC is committed to supporting undocumented students as well as students from mixed-status families by connecting them with resources, programming, and guidance that help them navigate their journey at USC.
Former Foster Youth
FG+SC supports students with foster care experience by connecting them with resources, programs, and campus partnerships that promote academic success, personal development, and a strong sense of belonging.
Community & Belonging
Our community and belonging initiative at FG+SC offers a variety of identity-affirming, interactive, and student-centered events designed to foster interpersonal connection, cultural validation, and a sense of belonging.
